Build a capsule wardrobe for spring with 6 pieces that will never go out of style- and neither will you!
One of the most exciting times of the year is that first warm, sunny day after a few long winter months. I know I go through my closet and start spring cleaning just so I can buy some more pretty clothes to wear for spring! But this year is a little different. Instead of focusing on trendy pieces I want to build a better a wardrobe. So, let’s talk about how to build a capsule wardrobe for spring that won’t disappoint you for years to come!
Black Linen Mini Skirt
Without a doubt, a black mini skirt is an absolute need for any time of the year. For spring though it’s great to have it in a linen fabric. Linen is one of my top favorite fabrics to shop for when I am looking for new items for Spring + Summer. That’s because it breathes so well and from my own experience, it tends to not show sweat marks better than most other fabrics. That is so important living in the South, especially Charleston where it may not be hot that day but it sure is humid.
Soft Colored Body Suit
I say ‘soft colored’ because I would stay away from bright pastels for a capsule collection. A soft yellow or mauve is a great option to bring some color to your wardrobe without being over powering. The Beckett Body Suit in mauve paired with white denim and sandals? Yes please!
Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking. But in all seriousness, I don’t foresee a time where a floral sundress is not in for spring. Choose something that compliments you and keep it in the capsule! A short sleeve sundress is great to carry you all the from early spring to late summer. Pair them with a cardigan or sweater for chillier days or dress them up with wedges for a night out.
Knit Tank Top
Ok, I am passionate about this one. Knit tank tops do not get the attention they deserve! Time after time you see them pop up in spring collections around stores but no-one ever plays them up like they should! Knit tanks are perfect for spring because they can take you from sunny afternoon to a chilly night out! A true hero of spring clothing.
There isn’t a better staple look than pairing a white blouse with a skirt or jeans when you have after a day in the sun. Eyelet is always in for spring and a great alternative to lace. With more structure and a feminine touch, an eyelet blouse can be dressed up a 1000 different ways.
We all know that we need to be prepared for a drop in temperature and there is not better way than to have a great neutral cardigan hanging in the closet. Long or short, a soft cardigan can be stylish while also practical. Not to mention how easy it is to make an outfit out of one!
